By your definition it would have to be plate racing. I feel that plate racing is unnecessarily dangerous for drivers and fans. Anyone can win a plate race. The best cars can't get away from the bad cars and drivers and that is a recipe for a 20 car pile up and debris into the stands! I much prefer the short tracks specifically Bristol and Richmond. Faster cars have decent shot at passing slower cars, yet it remains competitive most of the time. Constant action on the track, postions changing every lap. If a driver hits it just right he can kill the field and get a 10 sec lead, traffic and cautions make this very rare. If it does happen you should learn to respect the domination on that day and watch the many other battles on the track. Another key point for those tracks is that the dreaded aero push isn't a factor. At the 1.5 mile tracks a faster car can get stuck behind a slower one for 30 laps because of the stupid aero push. that isn't racing that is wind surfing! Faster cars should be able to pass most of the time! |
