Does it make a difference that wedding bands were originally a tribute to a Gay Demi-God?
It's true... before Christianity came to Rome, people were getting married...And at these ceremonies, it was common for couples to place a ring on their thumbs as a tribute to the bondage of Prometheus their closest figure to " Jesus" at the time... Prometheus was rescued from his bondage by Heracles and they lived in secrecy on the back side of Mt. Olympus for many years together...So do you think that Prop 8 would have passed before American Christianity laid claim to the institution of marriage?
Is it just me or are women more likely to talk to you when you have a wedding band on?
Muslims and wedding bands...?
I have heard it both ways, and would like to know....Do Muslims wear their wedding band on the right or left hand? Is it worn on the traditional ring finger, as in the west? Is it the same for men and women? Thanks.
Why do waitresses who wear a wedding band earn less tips? Do you agree and why?
I am having a disagreement with a female co worker. She thinks I have a misogynistic tendency but I am absolutely certain, with regard to waitresses who earn tips, that I am speaking the truth here.
If a man has a ring (wedding band) on the right hand, does it mean he's gay?
Im a female and like this Doctor at work. But he has a wedding band on his right hand. Does that mean he's gay? I mentioned it to a friend of mine and she said it means he's gay. My sister though who lives in Florida said that he may just be switching it when hes away from his wife so he doesnt appear married to others. Either way. What if he just didnt know it meant that? If it does?
Norwegian men's wedding band?
I have been on the net searching for designs and cannot come up with anything. Does anyone know where I can find some Norwegian men's wedding band designs, or symbols? Thanks in advance.
What is the difference between a wedding band and engagement ring?
AND why would anybody want to spend 1000$ in these economic times for 2 different rings when they both symbolize the same basic idea, that your heart belongs to someone else.Doesn't a promise ring suffice as an engagement ring? I mean, they both mean the same thing, that you are promised, taken, etc. Some of the promise rings are expensive enough to be wedding rings.
Is it wrong to feel turned on by a wedding band on a guys hand?
I find it a huge turn on, but I keep it to myself. I don't get myself involved but I just find it weird y attractive when a guy has a wedding band on his hand. Am I just a despie for that? weirdlymeagain I would never do that, I would feel really guilty and depressed after wards. So it just won't be worth it.
Is wearing a wedding band a pagan origin thing?
JW's Why do you wear wedding bands? Why do you celebrate anniversaries?
Anything that has " pagan" roots you said is from Satan. You hold fast to this on many topics....but some you do not. Why do you wear wedding bands....is it in the bible? What are the roots of wedding bands? What about anniversaries? I still have not gotten an answer. Why make an exception to wedding rings? or anniversaries? By the way Vot...that was funny.I agree that you should celebrate anniversaries...like the anniversary of Jesus's Death and resurection. If we are to take it in this direction, isn't a birthday an anniversary of someone being born? Of Gods gift of life to us? Oops I got off topic too. If its debatable about the roots....do you want to gamble on your souls? The person being honored is pagan? So showing someone you are happy they are here is pagan? Showing them they are glad God put you into the world is pagan?Do you not give gifts to people you love? Do you not bake and get together with and for people. Didn't many Come to see Jesus..that he was born " regardless of time period" .So if something has more than one meaning you can have a celebration. Some people celebrate christmas just to get together and spend time together, some celebrate it as observing Christs birth...this has more than one meaning...Some celebrate it as giving thanks to God for giving us Jesus. So even if the roots are pagan...if its used in a meaning of good its o.k?I think births came into this world before they were used in any pagan meanings...I know that much...but rings being in existence before " pagan roots" is a far stretch don't you think?Because they are placed on you, you live with them....because of custom and society? Doesn't Jesus warn us of this?Thats my point...in no way celebrating not worshipping someones birthday is not false worship...celebrating Christmas is not false worship... Wearing a ring is not false worship. Thank you.God didn't institute births? common thats an easy one.So again, even if its been used for pagan reasons...if your reasons are not of pagan ideals than its o.k.
Why don't orthodox Jewish men wear wedding bands?
Is it odd for a widow to wear a ring (not a wedding band) on her left ring finger?
Why do religious Jewish people place the wedding band on their index finger?
Wedding Band or Engagement Ring First.. Post Wedding?
I am getting married on 05 24 08 and my Fiancee and I are in a dispute. I say that the Band is supposed to go over the Engagement Ring and pointed outward to signal our Future together, while she states that the Engagement Ring is supposed to go on top facing the tip of the finger in order to " Protect" the Band. The Band in her opinion is supposed to be the closest to the heart. I was always told that just as a graduation ring is supposed to be turned around post graduation to symbolize your step into adulthood, the wedding band is supposed be on the outside for the future of our marriage. Which one of us is right?
